Abstract

This academic work focuses on the ethical obligations of humans towards the natural environment from the perspective of Aldo Leopold's ecological philosophy. Leopold, through his renowned concept of "Land Ethic," asserts that humans should treat nature as a community with intrinsic value, rather than merely as a resource to be exploited. By examining Leopold's views on the relationship between humans and nature, his concept of environmental ethics, and the ethical principles he espouses, this study aims to elucidate how these concepts aid in preserving ecosystems. The relevance of Leopold's concepts in the context of environmental conservation in Indonesia highlights both the challenges and opportunities in applying environmental ethics within diverse contexts. Utilizing a literature review, case studies, and in-depth analysis, this paper concludes that the ethical obligations of humans towards the natural environment, as understood through Aldo Leopold's ecological philosophy, hold significant relevance for environmental conservation in Indonesia. They provide a foundation for sustainable environmental conservation practices and guidance for further research and action.
